ABOUT US

Regulatory Resources, Inc. (RRI) is a small business that was established in early 1996. We specialize in regulatory compliance covering the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Dangerous Goods Regulations (and IATA), and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code). We also have extensive compliance expertise in the U.S. EPA Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste regulations.  One area of our strength is in the domestic and international packaging and transportation of radioactive materials.  RRI is not new in this business.  Our experience and expertise spans over 34 years in operations and compliance of the hazardous materials and waste management, packaging and transportation profession.

Our Mission

RRI’s mission is simple:  Meet the need of the customer, both current and anticipated.  We want to work with you to target your specific needs, and provide you with a product that sets the standards for others to follow.  RRI demands this same high level of quality for all of our customers, from small single-owner businesses to multi-billion dollar firms.  We are committed to integrity, honesty, character, responsibility, and providing a quality product that reflects these values.

Our Expertise

RRi was established in 1996 but the expertise of our professionals extends well beyond this.

Consulting.  Our principal compliance officer and trainer has spent 34 years dedicated to hazardous and radioactive materials and waste operations and compliance.  His expertise includes interfacing with numerous businesses and companies, and domestic and international governmental agencies.

Training.  RRI’s principal instructional designer and trainer has over 29 years of experience in the design and development of professional, performance-based training programs.  All RRI’s training programs are objective based using a systematic approach to training.  You’ll find we teach the regulations from an operational perspective.  Our training programs promote positive changes that can be implemented immediately.  We’re confident you’ll be presented in our workshops a broader perspective toward compliance then you have through others courses.

Our Products

RRI Rad Calc is a spreadsheet program, using Microsoft Excel, that performs the calculations necessary to determine the applicability of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) for radioactive materials classification and categorization.  The calculated results include activity determinations for the definition of Class 7 material (both distributed throughout and surface contaminated), activity determinations for all Class 7 shipping options (i.e., Type A, limited quantity, LSA material), fissile or fissile excepted status with supporting reference for the exception, SCO calculation results including the SCO-II short-cut offered in NUREG-1608, HRCQ results, reportable quantity results, label categorization, and more.  Quantities can be entered in TBq, Ci or grams.  It’s an easy-to-use program that provides a one-page summary of your material.
